there, it's what I was looking for so others may want to know the same.

I didn't bother installing the redragon software and it seems to work just fine "plug and play" on Windows 11 anyways (guessing it would be the same on other versions of Windows?)
If you want the website to download the software anyways (and in all fairness I'm very low on my "mouse expectations"

but here's where the website gets confusing - or it confused me anyways maybe just because I'm dumb
[IMG]https://static.slickdealscdn.com/images/smilies/smile.gif[/IMG] ... if you click on the "get deal at amazon" link above it will take you to the "M810 Pro Max" version of this model and if you scroll down in the amazon description it talks about "Connectivity Technology", and "BT, 2.4G, USB-C"... which I'm assuming means "Bluetooth, 2.4 gz, or USB C"... if you look at the back of the mouse it has symbols which correspond to "Bluetooth" and "2.4g" on a little toggle switch, and the middle setting on the toggle switch (mouse is set to this by default) is "off" .. so at the redragon blog product page type thing above when they talk about "tri-mode" they are referring to this particular mouse on sale at amazon right now that the OP posted.. "tri mode" means use as bluetooth, 2.4 ghz via the usb dongle thing wirelessly or wired using the usb C port on the mouse I imagine. Going back to the amazon product page you will see a "M810 Pro" version which does not have Bluetooth but does have 2.4 ghz usb and/or usb c wired connectivity which I believe corresponds to the "dual mode" software (and user guide) downloads at the redragon website above.
strangely enough in my case I had to change the switch to "2.4g" despite using the mouse as a wired mouse (so connecting the USB c cable.. by the way it's a usb C connection at the mouse itself, the other part of the cable is usb A which means the mouse plugs in via a USB A port on the other side of the PC) to get the mouse to register and start working... switching back to the "off" middle toggle afterwards let me use the mouse as a wired mouse (make sure to change the DPI/mouse cursor speed to the speed you prefer to it defaults to the slowest speed automatically when you start using the mouse) but strangely enough could also still use it as a wired mouse when I forgot and left it on the "2.4g" setting.
If you want to use it as a wireless mouse you can use the included usb dongle (or bluetooth if your PC supports bluetooth).. if not there's a "open and rotate" type thing on the back of the mouse you can rotate open and store the dongle in which is a nice touch... if your PC supports bluetooth connection then of course you can change the switch on the back of the mouse to "BT" and use it that way instead.
