This Surface Laptop Go 2 is a compact Windows 11 machine best suited to light everyday use, with a solid build, quality display, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1. The 8GB of RAM can handle email, browsing, shopping, YouTube, and other basic tasks, and the SSD is upgradable despite being the smaller 2230 M.2 NVMe type. The main drawbacks are the non upgradable memory, the 128GB storage limit, weak battery expectations on a refurbished unit, and a sparse port selection. The trackpad also draws criticism, making it a practical but constrained little laptop.
Common Questions (5)
No. The 8GB RAM is non-upgradable, and expanding it would require soldering LPDDR4 chips, which risks voiding the warranty. That makes the memory a fixed limit for the life of the laptop.
Yes, it can handle light tasks like email, browsing, shopping, YouTube, and taxes, and it runs surprisingly well on Windows 11 for that kind of use. It is best suited to non-gamers and casual users who do not keep many tabs or heavy apps open.
Yes. The storage uses an M.2 NVMe 2230 short-form SSD that can be upgraded, which matters because the included 128GB drive is the bigger limitation for many users.
Battery health is the main concern on refurbished units, since the listing's 80%+ claim may be hard to verify and the laptop may need to stay plugged in. It is still compact and portable, but the tradeoff is weaker battery confidence than a new device.
Yes. The model has a limited port selection, and the trackpad is called out as poor. That makes it less convenient if you need lots of peripherals or rely heavily on the built-in touchpad.

If the SSD can be upgraded, that makes the deal even more amazing!

Can't believe in 2026 that I have to edit a config file in Ubuntu to change what closing the lid does.
If you are going to pay somebody to NOT send it you (negative value), just send me your money.
