I own these already and they're great, but FYI if you sit close range WILL notice they have a pretty high noise floor meaning you'll hear static/white noise unless your playing something on them. When I realized this it seems others put it in reviews and mentioned that it was the power supply that causes this on the smaller model (this one)

I tried these. They're pretty good, and hard to beat at $120, which is less than I paid for them. I ended up with a pair of Kali monitors instead. They were more expensive but I thought their sound was better balanced, especially on the high end.

I bought a pair of these speakers back in 2018 at B&H for $152.10. This deal is $119 each.

It's the class D amplifier that causes these. I have other speakers like Edifier with class D amplifier and no hiss. Other speakers (non studio monitor) with class D amplifiers also do not hiss. I wonder what they do to remove it.

I think that's also why in home theaters people use class D amplifiers for subwoofers. You don't hear the hissing through a sub

2018 was a different universe, my friend. A Denon entry level surround AVR back then cost about $400, now it's closer to $700.

Weird, I have a pair of the 305p at my second desktop and have never had any hiss.

More often than not, it's just ground-loop interference.

Using RCA to XLR cables instead of RCA to RCA can also help. The XLR has a more secure physical connection, ime.

It's not. These studio monitors self emit a hiss with nothing plugged in

They all do. At every price point but some are louder than others

I wonder if with bluetooth speakers/other active speakers they are turning off the speaker when no music is playing and the amp changes with the volume in put change

Edit: checking my edifiers again they do hiss but you have to put the speaker literally against your ear and it is so quiet you can barely hear it

Huh, I must've gotten lucky then. Don't hear any hiss from them at all from where I sit at my desktop, ears about 1.5-2 feet away. I guess if I put my ears right up against the front baffle I might hear something, but not sure what the point of that would be...

I ordered these from Sweetwater for the same price 2 days ago. Overall, the pair cost less than what is selling on marketplace. Great price.

Yeah, FB Marketplace all depends on where you are. There are lots of jokers on FBM trying to sell used speakers at or near regular street price for brand new. Hard to tell if they're just clueless or just trying to pull a fast one.

you must be deaf to high frequencies. I can hear it from across the room if my house is silent.

By comparison with the edifier speakers, I have to put my ear up to the tweeter less than 1cm away. I can only then barely hear it and almost you can't be sure at that distance that you are hearing anything at all or if it's amplified ambient noise like putting your ear up to a shell

I only wish I had high frequency deafness, so that I could tolerate "bright" speakers like SVS. 😆
