Print length is 320 pages. It's not a ten minute comic book read.
No idea plot wise where they cut it off. Volume 2 is $16.55.
The Last Ronin is also on sale and is pretty dope:

Probably not as cool as it would have been prior to Asian cinema gaining traction in America, but I enjoyed it.
I strongly suggest getting at minimum the first two volumes; Volume 2 contains the Leonardo one-shot which is not only one of the most important parts of the overall story but in my opinion hands-down the best single TMNT issue ever released. Over these two volumes you'll recognize a lot of what was adapted into the first TMNT film.
Volume 1 on its own is fine but it's in Volume 2 that you can start to see the comics go from silly comics made by two dudes in an apartment to an actual mature narrative.
These are as someone mentioned black and white; that is the way they were originally printed and the way they're intended to be read.
Someone else mentioned Ronin: this is a standalone comic and is also highly recommended.
