I think this is Audible Standard, an important distinction because you don't keep the audiobooks.

Yes, it is an important distinction. But to be clear, the audiobooks stay in your library, but you can only listen to them when you are a member. So if in a year you are a member again, the books will become available.

Be sure to choose a book each month with Standard. Unlike credits, the ability to choose a book does not carry over, it is lost.

Also, with Standard there seems to be no member discount on non-sale books, so the prices are impractically high. Those deals where you get a $20 credit turn out not to be what they seem.

I've been a regular member for four years (this time around...more like 15 years on and off). I love being a regular member with the rewards program.

If anyone decides to join up, you can pm me to ask any questions about the regular membership.

I just earned a credit for listening to the reward challenges.

Yes, if you mean download for offline listening in the app. But, with the Standard plan, once your membership lapses, they will no longer be available.

Staff for sure should know when you post a deal for Audible, you explain if it's the standard plan and what that means. Many people will think this is the deal where you get a credit each month for a book you can keep, whereas it's for the deal where you pay to borrow a book each month. AND you don't even get member sale pricing or the Audible listening library.

For .99, that may still be worth it to some people who are happy to pay to borrow audiobooks, esp if Audible has some you're having trouble getting from your library. But it's a HUGE difference from the plan that you would've gotten a year or so ago on these deals, and it's BS to not make it clear which plan it is.

I'm not sure what you mean here, the books you borrow on the standard plan are available for one month. You would have to re-borrow that book if you want it longer than a month, it does not stay in your library longer even with an active (standard) membership.

It's been said, "You will own nothing" and be happy" This is evident of that statement. On another note. Still a pretty good deal though.

This is incorrect, for the standard membership you only have access to the book you choose for that month only.

So if i don't have time to listen to the book that month, now I can't access it at all in month 2,3,4? If so What's the point a of a standard membership? I used to have the prem membership so I can save a book to read later

Yep, you must finish listening to that book during that month. So if you needed extra motivation to listen to an audiobook, this is the plan for you as you're on a timer. If you didn't finish it you could choose the same book again as your selection for the next month but it's not the most efficient use your membership to do that. Standard membership does make the premium membership look much more attractive given you can listen to the book you used a credit on any time later with premium, even after your membership is over.

I have standard from the previous prime day thread, I can still listen to the audiobooks from month 1. They will stay active as long as you have an active membership, I currently have all three lord of the rings books and am able to listen to them at anytime. Once the membership lapses the books are locked until you start a new membership.
