I'm also interested in the functionality of this one, or if I should spend more if there is another blender that is better for basic kitchen use? I'm not crushing ice or making smoothies, mainly making sauces and more culinary cooking type usage.

It says 700W. That's super low if you do heavy green smoothie including, kale, broccoli, celery, onion, garlic, ginger, carrot, nuts, beetroot, etc. Depending on how denser volume you use, motor will burn quickly

With a 700W motor and a blade system like this, these blenders are really only good for things like turning yogurt into a drink, perhaps with some blueberries mixed in. That's about it. If you use them for anything heavier, the motor will likely burn out quickly.

These used to be easy to find brand-new for as little as $20 several years ago. I burned through many of them making relatively heavy green smoothies, even varying the amount of liquid to reduce the strain on the motor. But they eventually all failed.

I then moved on to more expensive models like Ninja, which did a much better job, but I've already gone through about four of those as well. Now I've just started using another, more expensive blender with a similar blade system, and we'll see how long it lasts.

I also have a NutriBullet that I got for a very good deal at Kohl's as a backup. It's still sitting unused, waiting for its first run.

Also, always check Kohls first. A lot of times, between their sales, coupons and promos, and KC, I have gotten these kinds of appliances for very good deals.
