I think the idea is that many people reposition during the night without fully waking up. In theory if it's strapped to your leg, there's a good chance it stays in place when you roll over etc.

I want to use one for back pain, but I have yet to find one that doesn't make me overheat at night.

I use a firm and cooling pillow. Helps with lower back and hip pain, or if you have an older pillow, fold it in half. Save your money.

Any pillow will do the trick as these gadgets are ridiculous and potentially dangerous if you have to get up suddenly in the middle of the night. It would be more practical to make one with a strap that goes around the back of the head for the pillow biters out there. If Amazon can find a way to profit over foreign made landfill merchandise, they will.

In what way is it dangerous? Its connected by velcro, strong enough to not open up in slight sleep movements but if you need to go pee it just opens

strap looks like it's only on one side, so should be safe if you get up in the middle of the night
