Top Comments
- Removed the Frameo app completely (including its boot-up splash screen) so it never loads again.. I don't care / don't plan to use that.
- Set Fully Kiosk Browser as the only thing that starts up, locked into kiosk mode with root access enabled. This was the biggest pain point because it was complaining about a stale web view (ver61).
- Fixed the ancient built-in browser engine by moving my already-downloaded Google WebView app into the system folder (downloaded and installed via adb).. turns out that's all it took, no special permissions or signing needed
- End result: frame boots straight into my kiosk dashboard, running a modern browser engine instead of a 2017-era one, and Frameo is gone for good
(ignore the data in the pic, i'm still setting up my dashboard)
Community Reviews
This 15.6 inch Frameo digital picture frame stands out for easy wireless photo sharing, good picture quality, and a size that feels worthwhile at the sale price. The Frameo app is free for sending photos and short videos, and the frame handles portrait shots well, with scheduled screen on and off times adding convenience. The main caveats are that remote management and longer videos require a paid subscription, uploads come from the app rather than a desktop, and the built in speakers sound cheap. Some also note slow performance and that the 1366 by 768 panel can downsample high resolution photos when zoomed.
Common Questions (5)
It can be rooted and used for kiosk-style dashboards, but setup can be slow and finicky. Some users got Hermes root, remote ADB, or Fully Kiosk working, while others had trouble replacing WebView or getting Home Assistant to load cleanly at startup.
At $59.98, it is considered a good price for the 15-inch class and generally decent for the money. The frame is also described as easy to use, with good picture quality, though the speakers are cheap and some users report poor reliability.
No subscription is needed for normal wireless photo sharing through the Frameo app, including sending photos and short videos up to 15 seconds. The optional paid plan is for remote frame management and longer video uploads.
Yes, it supports unlimited senders through the Frameo app, so multiple relatives can send photos to the same frame. That makes it practical for parents, in-laws, and grandparents who mainly want to receive family updates.
Frameo does not offer a desktop upload option, so photos must be uploaded from the mobile app or transferred with a flash drive. That matters if you edit photos on a PC and want a direct upload workflow.

I ordered one yesterday and had a short period of time to mess with it. It was also a giant pain that left me unsuccessful since I couldn't replace webview and get FKB working.
I also noticed that it powered the device, something the other cables where ADB wouldn't function did not.
