This 15.6 inch Frameo digital picture frame stands out for easy wireless photo sharing, good picture quality, and a size that feels worthwhile at the sale price. The Frameo app is free for sending photos and short videos, and the frame handles portrait shots well, with scheduled screen on and off times adding convenience. The main caveats are that remote management and longer videos require a paid subscription, uploads come from the app rather than a desktop, and the built in speakers sound cheap. Some also note slow performance and that the 1366 by 768 panel can downsample high resolution photos when zoomed.

  • The Frameo app can share photos and short videos wirelessly without requiring a subscription.

  • The frame can handle portrait-oriented photos and videos well through the phone app.

  • The picture quality is reported as good for everyday photo display use.

  • The frame can be repurposed into a kiosk-style browser dashboard after removing Frameo and updating WebView via ADB.

  • Frameo software features can be paywalled, limiting phone-based management unless a subscription is purchased.

  • The frame's built-in speakers are reported to sound cheap, so many users keep them muted.

  • The frame can display downsampled detail when high-resolution photos are zoomed, with the panel reported as 1366x768.

  • Rooting and WebView replacement attempts can fail, making Fully Kiosk Browser setup a major pain for some setups.

This is a good price for the 15" size. Frameo app is awesome and free. Obviously if you want more features you gotta pay but I'm perfectly happy not paying.

good frame but be warned frameos software is paywalled bs that only allows you to use your phone to manage photos on the frame if you pay for their subscription. otherwise you have to physically interact with the frame to interact/change any photos once theyre uploaded.
Subscription for a digital photo frame that MSRP's for $130 is INSANE. Are there any alternatives that aren't predatory like this?

Free (no subscription needed): Share photos and short videos (up to 15 seconds) wirelessly from anywhere via the Frameo app — unlimited senders, no cap on how many people can share
•$17/year subscription (optional): Unlocks remote frame management and the ability to upload longer videos

I bought this the last time it came up for sale. My wife likes it. She hasn't really managed the photos on it, she just keeps adding more to it through the app on her phone. She takes tons of photos and video in the portrait orientation, so this works out well for showcasing those. The picture quality is good. It has speakers that sound very cheap, as to be expected at this price point, that we keep muted. I like that we can set the screen to turn off and on at specific times.

Snagged one to root and use as a home assistant Lovelace dashboard. Hopefully it's rootable, if not it's being returned.
I ordered this yesterday, arrived today and hacked / setup this evening. It was a major pain in the ass but I got it to work. I'm not sure what others did but this is basically what i did:

- Removed the Frameo app completely (including its boot-up splash screen) so it never loads again.. I don't care / don't plan to use that.
- Set Fully Kiosk Browser as the only thing that starts up, locked into kiosk mode with root access enabled. This was the biggest pain point because it was complaining about a stale web view (ver61).
- Fixed the ancient built-in browser engine by moving my already-downloaded Google WebView app into the system folder (downloaded and installed via adb).. turns out that's all it took, no special permissions or signing needed
- End result: frame boots straight into my kiosk dashboard, running a modern browser engine instead of a 2017-era one, and Frameo is gone for good

(ignore the data in the pic, i'm still setting up my dashboard)

I got this for $55 recently and it's honestly great BUT a big issue for me is Frameo does not have a desktop option to upload photos. You can only upload photos from the app. Might not be an issues for others but I edit photos on my PC and it would really help to be able to upload them. My alternative is to just load them on a flash drive and transfer them on the frame.

Did you use the USB c port for ADB on the frameo or the USB A? I've been having a hard time just getting my laptop to see the device when it's connected even with debugging enabled

How did you obtain root? I tried using Magisk but that failed, https://gist.github.com/dasos/782...0a9d8896b0

I ordered one yesterday and had a short period of time to mess with it. It was also a giant pain that left me unsuccessful since I couldn't replace webview and get FKB working.

It took me a few cables to find one that worked. USB A to C 2.0 on a Windows desktop. My C to C cables did not work, nor did my 3.0 cables that I knew were data cables

I also noticed that it powered the device, something the other cables where ADB wouldn't function did not.

Bravo! Are your dashboard pages entirely static? Or do you think it can handle some animated icons and/or video feeds from security cams?
