Excuse me? Costco's website does not even show that they sell this model, and the smaller non-inverter 7850W/6300W is $899.99. Please substantiate your claim with a link or photo.

Item 1900555. Its a warehouse item, not an online item. You have to search in the warehouse tab on the app for it. You also can find deal posts about it here as well. The one you posted is also not listed as an inverter generator anywhere. (Firman website, for the model in your image https://firmanpowerequipment.com/...cts/t07573)

After some research, I realize that indeed Ollie's is misrepresenting this as an inverter generator when it is in fact not. See attached photo, taken by a relative of mine at an Ollie's store today. My bad for trusting the in-store label, and my apologies to you.

You probably don't want an Inverter generator for a whole house generator.

All of those giant Generacs and Kholers that you see installed on the sides of your neighbor's houses are not inverters.

For whole-house, you want something that runs on propane or natural gas, and is dead simple. Every automatic feature is something that won't work when the power is out and the roads are blocked by trees or water.
