Yeah, between those 2x deals, you're pretty much trapped between a rock and a hard place depending on which option matters more to you: a competent midrange GPU or storage & RAM combo.

When your average AAA game studio is using large, high resolution textures for both the environments and character models, that takes a toll on the VRAM you have available. And to add insult to injury, your average AAA game studio is using the same God forsaken, game engine that introduces features that are ahead of their time to design their games in its entirety while releasing those games to retail in a clunky, unoptimized, and unpolished state. W/ that being said, you're better of mitigating any of those unforseen mishaps so you can avoid encountering future pitfalls by implementing countermeasures that are within your control such as buying a GPU w/ more VRAM beforehand w/ at least 12GB.
