This titanium cutting board is drawing attention more as a cheap metal slab than as a knife-friendly prep surface. The low price makes it appealing for repurposing as a serving tray, mixing board for epoxy or spackle, or even a boat gauge holder. The surface is described as rough and hard on knife edges, with concerns that it could dull blades quickly. There is also skepticism that it is truly pure titanium at this price and weight. Dishwasher cleanup is the main practical upside.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes, it can be hard on knife edges and may dull them quickly. The surface is described as rough, with one comparison to fingernails on a chalkboard, and another comment says it would destroy a knife after one use.

  • Yes, it may be more practical as a serving tray, mixing board, or small utility plate. Comments mention using it for epoxy or spackle mixing, or repurposing it as a boat gauge holder where knives never touch it.

  • It can be easier to wash and put in the dishwasher, and metal does not retain moisture like wood. One comment also argues wood and bamboo can retain bacteria more easily because wood is hygroscopic.

  • It is unlikely to be pure titanium at this price and weight. A pure titanium sheet of these dimensions is calculated to weigh about 15.77 oz, while this item is listed at 12.8 oz, which suggests it is not a solid pure-titanium board.

It's pretty cheap for a piece of titanium... might drill it out and use it to hold my gauges on my boat... my knives would never touch it

Well it is Titanium, doesn't get a whole lot harder than that.

Sanitation concerns. Wood/bamboo can retain bacteria easier than metal.

You don't have to spread misinformation on the internet. All cutting boards of any material are equally as clean from a simple hot and soapy water scrub.

All getting this will do is destroy your knife after 1 use.

For the price, was thinking that it may work as a mixing board for epoxy, spackle, whatever. Had been watching for a coupon or sale on the (aluminum) one at HF ...but the HF one will never approach this price. Looking for reasons why it would be rational to pay 2-3X more for the HF one.
