That's the price BEFORE you add the coupon code during checkout. After adding the coupon it was $94.16. That doesn't include tax, which was an additional $8.37 for me in NY.
I believe the ones that plug in straight to your phone are a better value due to the screen size/resolution. not as comfortable to carry around though.
Until they change the plug on the phone again and then you are out of luck or some software update doesn't allow it to work anymore. If it requires an app, then the app would have to remain supported. If removed from App Store, again out of luck. Makes sense at first but then what you buy is at the hands of other companies to keep being supported. I won't buy that type as it could be a throw away in a year unless you keep an old phone around that doesn't get updated. If you are one that trades phones in for upgrade good chance you'd be out of luck.
I have had those charge ports go bad in the past. The idea of something so big plugged into a port not designed for that type of leverage if bumped just screams failure to me. Micro soldering and thin circuit boards I just don't think that is a good mix in a working environment unless you are a very careful person. Just some want ifs I see as drawbacks of using the plug in dongle types. Has some merit to the screen etc but I know would rather not depend on taking a risk with a thousand dollar phone.
