I am still learning about this type of thing.

This apparently would need a box and a BMS, and terminals to wire too. I know there are kits out there for this kind of thing. I can see that this would give me greater flexibility to build a quality battery and ease in repair and maintain one as well.

But I am failing to see the savings associated with building your own here.

Happy to learn from the community here.

Take this with a giant grain of salt, but I tried to have chatGPT compare the all-in cost of a DIY 320Ah battery using these cells vs. a comparable amp-hour capacity of eco-worthy batteries.

For the DIY, the total was $1723 for a 16.38kWh system, including shipping (and including busbars). That breaks down to $105/kWh. The cheapest cost GPT could figure out for a comparable eco worthy server rack system with similar capacity was $2500. So, the off-the-shelf route would be roughly 45% more than DIY.

Now, I don't believe the DIY batteries are UL certified, so that's a big issue from a permitting standpoint.

I think the confusion is whether it's 320Ah total or per battery. If it's total that's about 1kWh, which is not good. If it's per battery it's about 4kWh, which may make it worth the BMS headache. It's appears it's 320Ah per battery or ~4kWh.
