It's $50 cheaper than I'm seeing at other places, so not bad.

That would be a pretty significant upgrade then. Is your other hardware somewhat modern? I mean, if you put that in some computer with an 8700k you may notice some bottlenecks.

I wish the AMD handhelds would play nicer with AMD graphics cards

Still torn between this to upgrade a 6800 (non-XT). The 6800 has more RAM but is quite a bit older. 1440 max resolution.

Is this a good upgrade coming from a 6700 XT? Something that can last quite a few years into the future games ?

its a lateral move , if you already have the 6800 stay with it

9070 GRE is about 20% faster than the 6800 (non-XT) if you look at these two relative performance charts. If you have a good way to reuse/sell the 6800 for a decent ammount then its probably worth it. You can always lower some texture related settings to stay within the 12GB vram limit on the 9070 GRE but you can't really make the 6800 faster to make up that 20%. GPU prices are "supposed" to keep going up.

I would say its worth it, seems like its about 40% faster which is going to be a very noticable upgrade.
