For those on a Macintosh and still using Quicken 2017, this update ensures that your Quicken data will continue to work, as Apple rolls out its new OS and retires Intel-only apps. Turn off the auto subscription renewal, so that you won't be charged after 12 months, and the software will continue to work. I am not a fan of subscription-based services and looked at the alternatives to Quicken, but this seemed to be the best option, since I have kept records on Quicken since the 1990's and manually input data each month.

They started enforcing the "for new customers" policy and won't issue replacement keys for those who already use Quicken. That and cutting back the frequency and magnitude of each sale makes me lose hope there will be one before mine expires.

Correct, this will only work on a new quicken id. you can probably switch your current id on an existing data file, but i didn't want to deal with that hassle. I bought a "new user only" subscription and there was no way to salvage it. They offer a 60 day money back or something like that, but mine was outside that window when i tried to activate.

Don't waste your money... Quicken is a scam now. Spend $20 for one month of Claude and build your own application. You will be amazed at what you can build if you have a basic architectural mindset. Now I have a program that is 100 times better than quicken that includes multi company functionality for my small business and a shared chart of accounts. The functionality is night and day better. It will be the best $20 you ever spent. The point is you can build a solution that is tailored to your needs and remove your dependence on quickbooks. I will probably open source my project because I'm tired of Intuit taking advantage of people.
