Aootek solar motion lights are best understood as a low-cost outdoor lighting option that can work well when they stay dry and get enough sun. The motion mode gives decent mailbox and yard lighting, and some units have lasted years, including a 2020 set still running with only a couple replacements. The main concern is durability, with repeated reports of moisture intrusion, dead units within months, and a need to seal seams, the solar cell, and the switch to keep them alive. A practical pick if you are willing to waterproof them and accept uneven longevity.

I had to Gorilla glue all of them at every seam and possible place for moisure to enter. They seem to be air tight but first hurricane we will find out for sure.

Hanging in a protected area only works if it gets enough daylight for proper charging.

Once moisture intrusion happens it is impossible to dry them out as the back is permanently installed.
How long have you had them? I just ordered some and figured I would need to do some extra sealing.

One week!
Don't use super glue as it flows in places that may damage the circuits.

Do one side at a time and let it get non sticky then do the next side. Do the button in the cracks.

Do all of them completely with the button set to one click to activate.

They leak like a sieve so seal them good. Gorilla glue dries clear so don't be shy.

All of the older ones (6-8 months) have moisture damage which happened pretty quick depending on how they were mounted.

One lasted one day that I mounted horizontally.

At the very low price point these are a great deal if you seal them.

I had to move several to the fence on the side of the house that gets very poor sunlight.

Those are good. I actually bought them twice, six of them each time. But I only used them for about two months. After I read an article about someone who bought solar lights from Amazon that caused a major fire and burned down their house, I became worried about the safety risk. I ended up taking all of mine off the fences. Even they are not the same type, but Amazon do not QC any product. Consumers are at their own risk, I just can't afford to risk losing my home over something like that.

Both in 2020 and they've been great. Had to replace two last year, which is good IMO. I only used them in Mode 1 (on with motion for 15 secs).

All Aootek solar lights will fail within 3-6 months; source, two 2025-2026 orders and multiple warranty replacements that fail just as fast. My sample size is roughly 15-16 lights, all dead.

I will say, Aootek does reply to emails, and they will send you replacements, but they will ask for multiple redundant photos AND videos, needlessly delaying / complicating what should be a simple process. I can only assume hoping you'll get tired of the half dozen emails and give up.
That's a shame. I bought two Aootek solar lights (different model) in February of 2019 and they both just died last winter. So they made it a solid 5 years out in the elements. Clearly their quality has gone down, or maybe this specific model just sucks. The ones I bought back then were the ones below. Actually surprised they are still available seeing that nowadays specific models seem to change yearly.

I have many of these around the yard. Most have lasted me a few years.

These are still working!

However, the wrap around lights have
failed under at least 3 different brands.

All because of moisture. Hopefully fully sealing these will work long term.
