Community Reviews

The Hobbit Gift Bundle is mainly a collector focused value play, with 9 play boosters, 1 collector booster, a spindown, and themed lands. The collector booster alone is treated as the main draw, since it can sell for around $70 and makes the extra cost over a regular bundle easier to justify. It is less appealing for chasing specific playable cards, where buying singles is the better route. Packaging quality from the vendor was criticized, and the set is seen as poor for favorable pack odds if you are buying for returns.

Common Questions (5)

  • At $95, it can be a strong value if you want the collector booster, since collector boosters are cited around $70 by themselves and the bundle adds 9 play boosters on top. If you only want playable cards, buying singles is the better route.

  • It is better suited to collectors or pack-rippers than to players chasing specific cards. For targeted deckbuilding, buying singles is the practical choice; for collecting or holding sealed product, the bundle can make more sense.

  • The deal appears to have sold out, with the Walmart shipment reported as gone and resale prices rising to $120+ on Walmart marketplace and about $250 at Best Buy. That suggests the original big-box pricing is no longer widely available.

  • It includes 9 play boosters plus 1 collector booster, not 9 collector boosters. That makes it closer to a regular bundle with an added collector pack, which is the main value driver.

  • Yes, it can be worth holding sealed if you want to preserve value, because the collector booster plus 9 play boosters gives it more upside than a standard bundle. The packaging condition matters, though, since one report says the vendor shipped it poorly.

Coming back here to post the deal is dead. Walmart shipped looks like it sold out earlier this morning.

For those that got in congratulations! Likely be the last time anything hobbit mtg with anything related to collector will be close to msrp at a big box online retailer.

Now selling for $120+ on Walmart from independent sellers and Best Buy is showing $250. Insanity.

There's nothing in this set to justify the hype. There are a few chase cards in the collector boosters, but the odds are over 99% you aren't getting favorable EV from that pack. If you bought to flip, I guess those folks can only blame themselves for buying it.

A collector booster sells for 70. He was selling for 95 and theres 9 play boosters on top of it. It was worth it if you are going to hold long term but they packaged them flagrantly from this vendor.

If it makes anyone feel better for missing out, I opened ~$20 worth of cards. 😂
