This CyberPower pure sine wave UPS is aimed at keeping a PC, NAS, router, or home server running cleanly through brownouts and outages, with enough headroom for safe shutdowns and monitoring through USB or NUT. It has worked well with Synology, unRAID, and Home Assistant setups, and it has handled repeated grid to UPS switchovers without issues. The main tradeoff is runtime, since the lead acid battery is much smaller than a power station and is only expected to last a few hours at light loads. Battery replacement is also a consideration, though the cells are inexpensive to swap.

  • The UPS can integrate with NUT for monitoring and safe shutdown workflows.

  • The UPS provides pure-sine-wave power headroom that can be useful for sensitive loads.

  • The UPS supports USB-based graceful shutdown for a Synology DS918+ NAS without extra drivers.

  • The UPS can run a desktop PC, unRAID server, router, and cable modem through multiple switchovers.

  • The UPS runtime is shorter than a Jackery-style power station due to much lower usable energy.

  • The UPS battery may use inexpensive lawn mower batteries, which can undermine the value of a no-replace messaging.

  • Firmware updates on some solar generators can turn off AC output, so an "old school" UPS may be required for updates.

  • The deal price may be less attractive than other new or refurbished CyberPower UPS listings.

Incorrect. That $150 model on Costco's website is for the simulated sine wave unit. The pure sine wave one regular priced at $210 is comparable to the one in this listing for $190.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I have learned that even though I have Anker and Ecoflow "solar generators" for my main battery power you need an old school UPS between them and your computers. Why? Any time you update the firmware they turn off the AC out. Having an old school UPS that can keep the power on long enough for that firmware update to complete is basically a requirement.

Tempting, I've been using a Jackery 1000 v2 however and it's been flawless besides integrating notifications to take action on power loss. My nas, switch, camera setup, wireless and fibermodem idle at 40w which I get over 24 hours on the Jackery. Anyone know how long it would last on this?
Quote from KevinC1977 View quoted comment :
If it's using the 12V 9AH batteries, then it's about 0.216 kWh, which would yield about 1/5 of what you can get on the Jackery. Only benefit I personally see in UPS like this is the ability to connect to end devices directly or via a NUT (Network UPS Tool) for safe shutdowns. My existing Bluetti and Jackery power stations don't provide my home assistant with sufficient polling rates locally to be a reliable source of truth for that.

In case my setup might be of interest, I connect my most critical end devices to these UPSs, and the UPS connects to a larger capacity Bluetti/Jackery with 2 and 3 kWh. I do this because the circuits in my house are dirty and sometimes a compressor kicking on in the same circuit across the house can drop my voltage significantly and/or cause a startup surge. Power stations can surge up temporarily to meet that demand. I also have an Ecoflow setup for whole house backup which gives my systems a tertiary backup supply. Additional benefit of having the power station in the middle is the DC PV inputs so I can connect up to 1kw of portable solar panels in case of emergencies.
Do those types of backups (the solar charge ones) switch over fast enough during a power loss to keep the connected devices powered on? I think it's called holdover time.

I currently have this sine UPS but i'd prefer one with longer runtime in case of an outage. I don't need the battery to talk to devices for shutdown.

this. i really wanted to jump on that Costco deal but I've been waiting for a pure sine wave.

You can still find reasonable deals for simulated sine wave in the $125-150 range pretty regularly

It's crazy that we've been conditioned to consider this a "deal". I bought this exact model in 2019 for $130.
130 in 2019 is over 170 in 2026 dollars

Missed the deal like usual...every year it is the same...Amazon, Bitcoin, EV lease deals, and now this...though I did get the penny office chair from staples and the $199 65" 4k TV a few years back.

I"ve been using the ecoflow river 3 plus as a UPS for an unraid server and another for a UPS for a mini pc and router for a while now and I've been very happy. https://www.ecoflow.com/us/river-...er-station
Fast switching, NUT UPS over USB which has been easy to use with unraid and linux, LiFePO4 batteries which give good runtime on the unraid server, and many hours of runtime for my mini pc and router, and it's designed to take an expansion battery and solar or car DC input as well.
So you've tested the cutover? Devices still stayed on?
