This vinyl sale offered strong prices on a wide range of albums and box sets, including new listings that kept appearing during the event. Shoppers picked up titles like Lana Del Rey, Fontaines D.C., Black Pumas, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Sleep Token, with some box sets landing around $19.99 and several records under $15. Free shipping worked for logged in Best Buy members, though some carts showed a shipping charge or needed support help. The biggest drawback was shipping quality, with many records arriving in paper envelopes, bent, torn, or even used, while a few orders did arrive well packed.
Collectors buying multiple records at once, because the sale can surface extra listings live and some box sets were found for about $20.
Shipping is inconsistent: some records arrived in oversized boxes with bubble wrap and cardboard, but many arrived in paper envelopes or bags with no backing. That packaging has led to bent corners, torn shrink wrap, and even records described as used or badly damaged.
Yes. Free shipping appears to require being signed into a Best Buy account, and it can fail in cart or checkout if you are not logged in. Some orders also worked only when purchased one at a time.
No. Not every listed item is on sale at the advertised price, and the inventory/listing set was still changing during the sale with new titles appearing live.
Returns may require mailing the record back, and store returns can be limited unless you are exchanging the same item. Support also reportedly said credits can take up to 30 days after the return is received.
Yeah think you can return to store or mail - but I have bought records/vinyl for decades and this was the worst shipping just a paper bag. I thought Target's Ebay store was bad.....this was 10 times worse. Fed Ex person left it in the sun instead of the shade also to boot. lol. Best Buy said once they get it back it might take up to 30 days to be credited, huh?? Thing is to check Amazon, I was going to buy 4, but Amazon was price matching 2 of them. So went with them, 9 out of 10 times Amazon is a box in a box. Good Luck , let us know how it goes.
ugh. sorry to hear that. seems like this has been a nightmare of an experience for you. and yeah, amazon uses the right type of boxes for vinyl. best buy really needs to learn.
i just got my first half today. i got pretty lucky coz they're in great shape. only one of them shows some scuffs at the corners, probably coz it had been on the shelf for too long. my other half arrives supposedly tomorrow. keeping my fingers crossed.
Wish I'd seen this before I ordered 40. I'm sitting at 20 arrived, 17 are beat to shit.
oh my. 17?? that is awful. did they get damaged due to poor packaging or does it look like they sent you items that were in poor condition to begin with? i imagine they're shipping whatever was left at various stores, and sometimes customers treat merchandise like crap.
This is a first, The vinyl is used and they just stuck the shipping label on the front and that's how it was delivered. I ordered a bunch and most of the are beat to hell too. This is by far the worst shipping i've ever dealt with
I had several arrive in with the shrink torn, bent corners, etc - one or two are "okay". One even arrived completely open looking like it was found at a yard sale. I have a few more coming which I'm dreading.
Anyone have additional insight on dealing with BB customer service?

Damn, I've had the complete opposite experience. I had a few arrive today and the wife and I literally joked about how silly the packaging was… gigantic boxes, huge bubble wrap, etc….
I'm not sure where our disconnect is. East coast locations shipping well? Our particular DC's not slacking? Dunno. Definitely surprised refreshing this thread after our delivery so far.

great sale. many of these will sell out as soon as more of my fellow gen-z collectors find out about it. i got 23 of them.
i actually would've loved that garth brooks set for only 19.99. i recently listened to his first three albums for the first time and really liked them. late 80s and early 90s country is so much better than that stuff that is popular now.
you bought 23 of them? so they are at least aprox. $10. You spent at least $230 on vinyl? I collect other things (colognes, 4k DVDs, etc.) but please enlighten me on this one.

Came to post my shipping experience and looks like several people beat me to it. Ordered a ton and most are either damaged with bent corners, ripped shrink wrap, missing shrink wrap and one is obviously used. Not the OP' fault but even at these prices ill pass next time if from best buy. Probably going to return most and hoping best buy customer service does not reject the used one.

it was a total of almost $270 (a few of them were 14.99 and then taxes). and yeah, i've been collecting vinyl for about 12 years. got my first haul at a thrift shop when i was 15. most of my albums have been bought for 1.99 at second-hand stores. i've also bought a lot of stuff through discogs, but these days the sellers are getting greedy. i'm pretty omnivorous when it comes to music, so i am up to ~1,200 albums on vinyl (and maybe 800 on cd).
like you, i also collect movies. plus, i have a large book collection, lol. luckily, i have the space for it, but i will probably slow down soon. there's never enough time to truly enjoy the things we collect.
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BUY VINYL FROM BEST BUY - I ordered from this sale album came in a paper envelope, totally bent beyond belief - even worse than buying from the Ebay Target site....worst ever.....what sucks is I have one more in transit . Urgh
I also received my vinyl in a flimsy, brown envelope. No cardboard backing whatsoever! The album is sold out, so the only option is to return it. No partial refunds either via phone or chat - no photo upload available. They have to see the item. I am nervous about my upcoming deliveries. "Worst Buy" indeed.

It depends on the shipper. One of my orders arrived with the shipping practice you've mentioned. The other was in a flimsy, brown envelope. Ridiculous!

Very cool. Cheers to enjoying them. One more question. Do you rip them to digital format at all? If so which one?

i have ripped some of them (about 300--many of them during the covid days) and save them to an old flash-modded ipod for portability. the turntable i have is pretty friendly in that regard (an audio-technica AT-LP120XUSB-BZ). as far as software i just use audacity. i'm sure however that there are better, more suitable to audiophiles type of options though.

the second half of my order arrived today, and i'm both relieved and happy coz all records are in brand new condition (only one had the shrink wrap slightly ripped). this time they were super well protected (big box with several layers of bubble wrap). i was stressing out after seeing some of the horror stories that some of you have dealt with.
