They generally are not considered safe for household use. If you must use one, then you should have a way to monitor the concentration of ozone in your living areas, and ways to vent the air if the ozone exceeds recommended levels.
Generally, there is no evidence that they remove odors or kill mold/bacteria at ozone concentrations that are also safe for humans.
