Owala FreeSip stands out as a cleverly designed insulated bottle with both straw sipping and tilt drinking from the same cap, plus a handle and a wide mouth that make it easy to use and clean. The cap fully comes apart, including the rubber stopper, which helps avoid trapped soap or mold. Cup holder fit is a plus for some versions, but this 40 ounce bottle is also called out as not cup holder friendly. Insulation gets mixed real world feedback, and the price is widely seen as premium rather than a true bargain, making it a distinctive but pricey everyday bottle.

  • People who like switching between straw sipping and tilt drinking, because the dual-mouth design makes both styles available from one bottle.

  • Commuters who want a bottle that fits in cup holders, because this size can ride in a car without blocking the console.

  • Parents buying a bottle for kids who use straws, because the straw-and-sip setup gives a familiar straw option with a second drinking mode.

  • Owners who hate hard-to-clean lids, because the cap fully comes apart for easier washing and less soap or mold buildup.

  • People who want maximum ice retention, because the insulation can lag behind other large insulated bottles.

  • Drivers who need a bottle that fits standard cup holders, because this shape can be too wide for many car consoles.

  • Anyone who wants a simple lid with few failure points, because the cap has many moving parts, can be hard to clean, and the straw can fall off.

  • Shoppers who prefer a cleanly separated straw or sip opening, because the combined spout can feel cramped and awkward to drink from.

I have like 10 of these because my kids like the trend. They're garbage, couldn't even keep ice from melting for 6 hours. The cap is the worst part, so many moving part can failed over time. The straw keeps falling off. Also it's so hard to clean the cap.

This is the normal "sale" price, not a true discount from their normal promotion.

Initially there was Yeti
Then there was Hydroflask
Then there was Stanley
Now there is Owala
There will be another in a year or so.
And then there's me with my Costco ThermoFlask 2 for 16 40oz bottles that I just bought AliExpress caps to refresh them. I will admit Owala is intriguing from a practical standpoint because the dual purpose cap with click button is truly convenient and secure. The front page dupe from Amazon tried copying the design and cap but it's just another two step feature to get straw or sip unlike Owala's patented cap. I'm still not buying one at these prices lol

Bought one a while back and returned it pretty quick. By trying to do both straw and swig, it does neither well. The design of the straw and spout feel too crammed together, so neither feels nice to drink from.
