Could go either way - might save $100 by waiting, or the QM9K could sell out at current prices, seeing as it beats the lower tier 2026 models despite costing... Less.

QM9K = 2025 Lexus
QM8L = 2026 Toyota

If I was in the market today, I would lock down that Lexus.

I've been eyeing the 85" version of this but I need it to come down substantially before I pull the trigger. I'm hoping it'll hit $1500 or so in the holiday buying season... it'll be the last major piece of my home theater upgrade (already picked up the energy rc 5.0 deal for $800, an onkyo tz-rz30 for $800, have an hsu research tn1 on preorder, and i'm going to pick up some atmos height speakers between now and the holiday buying season too... gonna be f'n siiick!

RTINGs has the QM8K and QM8L as rating the same as the QM9K. QM9K only has 2 - 2.1 HDMI which is a deal breaker. Really weird to only have 2 on a flagship. QM8L also rates higher then the QM8L Pro

Yes, the QM8L is the newer release, but the QM9K is still the true luxury model. The QM9K's ~6,000 local dimming zones and ~6,500 nits of peak brightness are absolute marvels of engineering. In real-world viewing, that sheer brute force contrast and brightness will be drastically more noticeable, and feel significantly more premium, than the incremental bump in color volume you get from the QM8L's SQD technology.

Only impactful reason to choose the QM8L is the additional HDMI 2.1 ports.

How does this compare to say an S90F OLED or C5 OLED? This seems to be about the same price or maybe a touch more if you can find either of those.

I know its maybe not apples to oranges OLED vs mini LED QLED

The TV is used in a room with average brightness, and its used for V FIOS cable box for Sports on TV, TV series, news programs, and then using apps like Netflix, Prime VIDEO and Peacock and Paramount series...
