1. plug it in all the time, power brick, powerbank, even your phone
2. open it up and replace the generic 18600 battery. I have done it to various devices.

For many devices, that simply doesn't work -- the battery needs to be able to output a nominal voltage before the device will turn on -- just plugging it in won't bypass the battery.
And for safety -- if the battery swells, that's exceptionally dangerous, energizing a failed battery.
