Community Reviews

The Zephyrus G14 stands out as a compact gaming laptop with excellent build quality, a 3K OLED 120 hertz VRR display, and strong RTX 5080 performance for its size. The 5080 model is described as substantially faster than the 4070 version, with enough power for compressed local models and a promotional code for CONTROL Resonant adding extra value. The LPDDR memory is soldered, so the 32 gigabytes here are fixed, and the 5080 is said to deliver only modest gains over the 5070 Ti at this chassis power limit. A solid premium pick if you want top-tier portability and screen quality.

The laptop can deliver strong gaming performance thanks to a higher manual-mode TDP ceiling.

The Zephyrus G14 is described as having excellent build quality for a gaming notebook with discrete graphics.
BlueDesk9616
The deal can be more compelling for gamers because it includes a promotional code for CONTROL: Resonant.
ludenu
The RTX 5080 configuration can run compressed local LLM models within the 16GB VRAM limit.
FrankP3

The RTX 5080 performance may be capped by the G14's thin form factor and its power limits.
BlueDesk9616
The LPDDR5 memory is soldered on this Zephyrus G14 series, so RAM upgrades are not possible.
VarmintCong
Local LLM performance can be harder on AMD AI processors for some tools, with NVIDIA CUDA often requiring less setup.
FrankP3
The 16GB configuration may be effectively fixed, which can limit upgrade paths for future needs.

Common Questions (4)

No. The LPDDR memory in this G14 series is soldered, so the 32GB configuration is fixed and not user-upgradeable later.
yinxzon VarmintCong
The RTX 5080 G14 is reported to be about 50% to 80% faster in games than the RTX 4070 version. It also has higher power headroom in this chassis, with manual mode capped at 120W versus 90W on the 4070 model.
BlueDesk9616
The RTX 5070 Ti is described as the sweet spot for this chassis, with the RTX 5080 offering only a small performance gain when power-limited. The main reason to choose the 5080 is extra VRAM.
xiaowang
Yes. The listing includes a promotional code for CONTROL Resonant, which is described as about a $60 value.

I don't see any low-end G14s on sale. Which ones?

5060 model for $1769 for example.

Things are so crazy. My 2023 RTX4060 model was $970. If only we know what the future would bring!

Thats been there. I've been watching this Best Buy G14 market for the last 3 weeks because my computer broke and that model has been available with open boxes at 1,100 and 1,300 for fair and good conditions. I think it's the 16 GB that I didn't like and I don't think the 16 GB is upgradable. Can somebody confirm that you're stuck with 16 GB? That's why I went for this 2600 one.

Is there a 32 GB version of that or any other models that you think are also on sale, because I don't see anything else?

btw this one in JULY was by far the best, 1K less.

The sweet spot for this model is 5070ti, with power limit 5080 is going to get only marginal performance gain. Unless you are look for vram size.

If it says LPDDR ram (it does for this series) it's soldered and not upgradeable.
