Edit: I just did some research and gluconate is one of the better forms out there - perfectly acceptable with generally good absorption. There are some forms that absorb better, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with gluconate. Maybe you know something I don't?

Quick glance"zinc gluconate vs zinc picolinateZinc gluconate and zinc picolinate are both popular forms of zinc supplements, but they differ in absorption and bioavailability. Zinc picolinate is often considered more easily absorbed by the body due to its chelation with picolinic acid, while zinc gluconate is effective in lozenge form for local throat action. biologyinsights.comKey Differences Between Zinc Gluconate and Zinc PicolinateUnderstanding these differences can help in choosing the right supplement.Absorption β Zinc picolinate is generally better absorbed than zinc gluconate, making it a preferred choice for systemic effects.Elemental Zinc Content β Zinc gluconate typically contains a lower percentage of elemental zinc compared to zinc picolinate.Usage Context β Zinc gluconate is often used in lozenges for throat relief, while zinc picolinate is favored for overall supplementation.Tolerability β Some users report better tolerability with zinc picolinate, experiencing fewer gastrointestinal side effects."
Ps: remember that zinc is a micro mineral and can accumulate in the body or cause imbalance of other minerals. It's not like water soluble vitamins. You can absolutely cause harm if you take too much or disrupt your individual balance. Serious problems.
