Your screencaps have the dates blurred because they are not current dates. So, I don't believe it ever was on their site's ad, then removed.

You are giving up earning any credit card CB when spending them, though. So you are still going to be about 3-4% up, net, based on having only 1-2% CB with your normal CCs.
I do not advise stockpiling them without a fast liquidation use in mind.
My top favorite (large purchase) methods now to spend these are on property taxes and our insurance renewal bills. But as already stated, there are many ways to spend them. Just not as many ways to spend a large amount quickly.

I've never had to establish a PIN for these prepaid visas when using them at Costco. I simply swipe, press the green button, and it registers as a credit card payment.
I do get a pin for purchases which save me fees by using as Debit..
