This bristle free grill brush is aimed at safer grate cleaning, but the strongest feedback centers on weak performance and confusing replacement heads. The brush is described as less effective than a wet rag, and the three replacement heads are said to add up to one full brush head rather than three full spares. The head is also reported to be plastic and to melt on hot grills. A few comments point to better results with wooden scrapers or steam brushes instead, making this feel more niche than versatile.

  • The bristle-free brush can work well on stainless steel pans when the handle is removed.

  • The bristle-free cleaning approach may feel gentler on stainless pans than steel wool.

  • The bristle-free head may be suitable for cast iron cleaning in some situations.

  • The replacement-head bundle can be misleading because the labeled "3" heads are needed to assemble one full brush head.

  • Wire brush scrapers can shed wires that may end up in food and cause health issues.

  • The bristle-free brush may be less effective on its own and may mainly serve after wire brushing.

  • The bristle-free head may use injection-molded plastic that can melt on hot grills.

Anyone looking for a 100% Made in USA version should check out the Smarter Scrubber from JJGeorge, more expensive but the quality is second to none!
We bought this and have been using with the handle removed for cleaning our stainless steel pans. It is working well and I think it is a lot gentler on them compared to steel wool (which I think the pan manufacturer recommends avoiding).

Seems like this might work okay for cast iron, but I doubt it would do much on a typical gas grill.

They only *tried* to make it in the USA, in the end they still used China/India made parts. The higher quality claim is also dubious considering they used injection molded plastic for the head instead of metal like this one, so there were many reports of the head melting, who would've thunk that plastic near a hot grill would be a bad idea πŸ™„

The "smarter" scrubber is a $75 YouTube meme product created by an amateur with an hour-long video ad attached, yet in every grill brush thread there's somebody shilling for it.

Nope, they ran into some false advertising from a chainmail supplier in the early days, but they are now getting that material from Canada, so it's 100% made in North America!
SmarterEveryDay made a really interesting followup video on their progress and the whole process!

Has anyone heard from their best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend that heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw someone who pass out at 31 Flavors last night from eating a bristle? I guess it's pretty serious.

There's always the argument that the wire brush scrapers *might* leave bristles that end up in your food. I suppose that's a possibility but I've never had that issue. It seems to me that if a wire comes loose, 99.9% of the time, it would just fall to the bottom of the grill.

How about replacing it every year? It isn't that hard

IDK man, I personally wouldn't take even a 0.01% chance that one of my family members might need a surgery due to an ingested wire. I trashed my wire brush when I read comments from emergency doctors and surgeons. Even once in a lifetime possibility is too much for me.

Get the Smarter (Every Day) Scrubber. Destin has a video about trying to make a product purely from American materials and labor. It's pricey compared to the junk available; but it's still cheaper than a visit to the ER because you swallowed a metal brush bristle.

Seems overly complicated for its intended use. Stick with a piece of tinfoil, or burn it off on the next grill session.

I know the argument about the bristles but honestly from a performance perspective I still think the steam sponge brushes are better
