I have one of these. It doesn't work great. I use it after using the wire brush in case it dropped any wires, but on its own it's not nearly as effective.

Life long Texan with a grill - bought this out of curiosity the last time it was on the front page. It is absolute garbage. Cool concept but it just does not work. It is less effective than a wet rag.

Okay, but we're not talking about wire brush scrapers. What is the advantage of the item in this thread, vs a wooden scraper which is the most commonly recommended way to scrape any given grill grate?

I would rather save money and buy a tried and true product that I know works and is safe than buy some random-brand metal doohickey gadget for more money.

Most people don't know wooden scrapers exist, or are lazy to break one in. To be fair, it does require some work, and one scrapper may not fit more than one grill. I am using the same wooden one for 5+ years now on my SS 9mm Webber grades. Combined with spray water bottle and/or wet rag, it's all that I need.

Wooden scrapers are great, I like using one for "normal" cleaning, then about 1 in 5 cleanings I use the bbq daddy steam brush to deep clean the grates. This past winter into summer has been the best the grates have ever looked. The steam cleaner ones are nice because the scraper gets big stuff but you still develop a layer of gunk that can hold moisture if it sits too long.
