How is this a deal? Feels like SD has changed a lot over the years. Also lots of terrible quality products on the front page. Like Chinese "brands" on Amazon. Feels like it's being manipulated. This was designed to be a community based website. How do we fix these recent issues? Here come the downvotes!

I've been on here since the beginning and it really has taken a nosedive in quality (even more so as of late.)

Some members are hugely obnoxious, allowed to post in-stock alerts rather than actual deals or when items are marked up, they post 'discount' of markups that are back down to MSRP. This really comes down to Moderation or lack thereof. Also, community voting cannot override affiliate incentives, because the front page is heavily driven by paid merchant partnerships and staff curation rather than purely organic community upvotes.

As for fixing it, users cannot fix the platform side, so the only real workaround is avoiding the front page altogether or include other deal sites in your list to check. For SD, I'd recommend just the 'Hot Deals' forum filtered by score or create a custom deal alert for specific brands, so you completely bypass the sponsored stuff.

You're right. This is garbage. Preordering games is a dumb idea to begin with. Preordering at full price when there are also better discounts available…. ya no.
