Cuisipro is a good brand in their own right and makes some pretty stellar products—have had their box grater for six years and it's really good. No clue about this product though, and the mechanism for the bottom release seems like a leak disaster waiting to happen. Can anyone speak to their experience here?

Bought this one about a year ago because it was highly rated, tried it twice, and returned it. The bottom plug worked fine with cold water but did not work at all with hot gravy and would not open properly or clog and not close again after opening. Total failure. Replaced it with the OXO Good Grips fat separator which uses a different mechanism and works perfectly.

I'd say the retail price is bogus, as even the OXO Good Grips Fat Separator (which is the best-in-class brand name) is only about $30 at retail:
