The reverse is actually what most people experience, and it's what they're going for. The "Zero" versions of calorie free sodas are intended to better mimic the flavor of normal soda, whereas Diet versions of sodas have a unique taste. I haven't had the same experience as you it seems.

Agree. I drink the zero versions of pretty much all soda except Dr. Pepper, it's nasty. The Diet Dr. P was actually cheaper than this a few days ago, you had to buy 3 though.

I never understand why people drink diet or zero especially if they are getting it in a big mac meal. Just drink the real thing.

Diet was kept around so as to not make the audience it garnered over the years upset that they're sun-setting the product. In the context of Coca-Cola, both taste great, just depends on the mood I'm in.
