And for toilets that don't have a kaboom, I drill a hole through the center of the bromine tab, put fishing line through it, and drop it down into the innards of the toilet. I tie the fishing line off through the overflow drain in the tank. It doesn't sit in water constantly, it only gets wet when a flush happens, and this seems to make it last much longer, while still being effective at preventing nasty stuff from forming. You seem to need very very little of the actual bromine to make the bowl water inhospitable to things that grow.
Community Reviews
These Vacplus tablets are mainly used to keep toilet bowls cleaner and reduce water stains, and they work well in Kaboom-style setups. The bleach action is strong, with a sharp odor that hits hardest at first, and some people stretch the tabs by cutting them in half or using them every two to four weeks. The main caution is possible wear on rubber seals, gaskets, and flappers when tablets sit in the tank, though bowl-only setups avoid that concern. A practical pick if you want bowl cleaning and can handle the bleach smell.
The tablets work with the Kaboom toilet cleaning system for bowl maintenance.
The tablets can help prevent water stains when used on a regular schedule.
The Vacplus-style cup setup can route tablet water into the toilet bowl instead of the tank.
Some setups report at least a month of use when tablets are used with Kaboom.
The bleach tablets can destroy toilet seals, gaskets, and flappers over time.
The tablets can produce an overpowering bleach smell that some people may avoid.
Tablets used in Kaboom can dissolve much quicker and release a very strong chlorine odor.
The advertised 50% coupon appears to have been replaced by a 15% discount.

Plus I have a toilet that I have been using bleach tablets in for near 20 years now and zero degradation of any parts.
It really depends on the toilet.
Personally, I have not seen them eat up any toilet parts that were not already on their last legs, but I assume its possible.
