This Skytech Harpy build is a strong prebuilt for high settings gaming, pairing a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB of DDR5 6000 memory, and an RTX 5070 in a package that compares favorably with a roughly $2100 DIY build. The 7800X3D is praised for gaming performance, and the system is described as handling ultra settings without issues. Skytech systems are also described as using standard name brand parts, which should make future GPU upgrades easier. The main concern is the RTX 5070's limited VRAM for longer term future proofing, with some suggesting a 16GB or 5070 Ti option instead.

Common Questions (4)

  • The RTX 5070 is viewed as fine for current 1440p ultra, entry-level 4K, and ray tracing, but its VRAM is the main concern for keeping the card several years. A 16GB-VRAM GPU is the safer pick for avoiding memory-related stutter and texture downgrades in demanding or poorly optimized games.

  • The exact setup has been reported to run everything thrown at it on ultra settings without issues. That lines up with the 7800X3D plus RTX 5070 pairing being aimed at strong current-gen gaming performance.

  • It can be a solid buy if you want a ready-made system: a similar parts list was estimated at about $2100 on PCPartPicker, putting this deal roughly $350 below a DIY build. That makes the prebuilt pricing competitive for the current market.

  • Yes, the system is described as using standard-size, name-brand components, so a future GPU upgrade should be possible. The main caveat is that Skytech cases can be less convenient to work in during a rebuild.

Are any of these pc builder brands good? are any of them strict "avoid"?
Skytech is generally pretty good, they have standard size name brand components which means you should be able to at least upgrade the video card when it comes time. I got one years ago during the crypto GPU shenanigans and it was pretty solid, components were all mid-tier but not bad. Case was OK, good looking but not as polished as if you would buy it separate. I did have to pry out the PSU and ruin the case when I was rebuilding a comp for a friend.

My "research" is from years ago I haven't kept up with others since I normally build, and the Skytech I got was primarily just to get a video card.

7070 ti is the future sweet spot for real future proofing. Probably with the 32GB VRAM or something.
With the RAM shortage, the 7070 ti is more likely to have 2GB of RAM.

With Nvidia's neural texture compression (NTC) making advancements, it's possible.

Prices are fubared this year. You could get this with a 5070 TI for $1900 9 months ago.
$2149 but you get a CPU that trades blows in gaming with the AMD and blows it away in everything else.
