It's about $39 less expensive and does 200w more. If you really need 1000w it doesn't hurt to have extra headroom. Phanteks typically are made by Seasonic, though I'm not sure about this specific model.

If this a Seasonic it's an incredible deal. I don't even need a new PSU and I was debating on grabbing one.

Con: There's only two NEgg reviews with comments, and one claims they returned it because they didn't like how loud it was compared other psus they've used.

If you're pulling most of that 1200W, it's hard to expect a completely silent system.

I have a Super Flower Leadex VIII that features a "silent idle" mode where the fan shuts completely off, but I don't see the point of putting more strain on the components for a largely unnoticed 5dB resonant difference.

The whole point of getting an 80Plus Platinum is the conversion efficiency. Why spend more to possibly worsen that or not have the PSU last as long?

If noise is an issue, just get an 80Plus Gold and swap the fan for a $50 Noctua for around the same upfront cost.
