Sometimes bands just become a fashion accessory. But yellow is hard to pull off.

See also: Sublime, who I just saw last weekend (Bradley's son, Jakob, has taken over as frontman and is really good). I wonder if any of these teen girls have actually heard most of the songs, or if the music is just grandfathered in automatically Smilie

It's a double edged sword.

Go to any music show anywhere and the merch is sourced from the same places as Walmart gear and also costs $75 for the same hoodie with a different low-quality screen-print design.

Everything generally sucks, but $7 hoodies are something I can't get too mad at.

I don't idealize Kurt Cobain too much, but I do think he was an extremely talented musician and it is definitely unfortunate he couldn't handle his emotions.

That being said, and I was alive then to witness it, but if you don't believe it you can Google it yourself, but Kurt wasn't anti-merch and approved merch designs while he was alive (including this very smiley face design).

Your heroes aren't as they appear.

I was at a Nirvana cover band recently (Nirvani) and was legitimately surprised at the number of teens & tweens singing along and knew all the lyrics. I also have a friends who's 13yr old daughter is obsessed with Guns N Roses. I think some of the kids I assumed were wearing bands from my generation as fashion accessories may actually be fans! 😅
