You are obviously (I hope) only considering a gpu purchase in late 2026 out of desperation. But this is pretty much 5070 performance for MSRP. Seems pretty slick if you must buy a gpu today

Compared to the prices of the XT and non-GRE variants, that might not be the case anymore

I got it at $480 at MicroCenter but I feel like that's a price that you can accept and not hate yourself. It's an upgrade for a lot of older GPU's (coming from 6700XT here) and should be able to hang for a couple years thanks to GDDR6 and latest Gen RDNA. A real compromise would have been a RX 9060XT (which I had purchased and installed, but returned) for close to same price. We'll see if come BF if I hate myself for buying now...but if it's within $40 of this price, I'll be ok.

Agreed. Ironic how the 9070 GRE's performance is equal to the 7900 GRE that released around 2 years prior, but has 16GB of VRAM vs 12GB on the 9070 GRE.

The only graphics card to buy in today's economy. If the terms "FPS" and "1% lows" mean nothing to you, this is a decent stopgap until the market settles.

At $500 this has virtually the same dollar per frame of a Rx 9070 Non-XT at MSRP.

Looks like it is indeed for the ASUS one, but the same deal for the Gigabyte variant at NewEgg is still alive.

I was excited and clicked and then realized it was the GRE. I got an open box one from microcenter for $405 and ended up returning because I got the Asus Prime 9070 16gb for $399 on Woot

It's sad of AMD to have made the decision to allocate less vram and a narrower memory bus to its most recent generation of consumer GPUs than they had for the generation immediately prior.

7900 GRE 16gb, 256-bit width > 9070 GRE 12gb, 192-bit width

7900 XT 20gb, 320-bit width > 9070 XT 16gb, 256-bit width

7900 XTX 24gb, 384-bit width > no AMD 9000 RX peer. Makes you wonder what this 9000 series could have been with more memory and a wider memory bus

Used 7900 XTX are selling for $1,000 on eBay
