Been looking for a CD player. However, on this one the only thing missing is a dedicated Optical out. Using a 3.5 mm to Optical (which is not even included it seems) means you're using the internal DAC and cannot bypass, to your own (possibly superior) DAC.

"A 3.5mm optical out also turns DISC Nano into a CD transport for your desktop DAC."

They specify that the 3.5mm is optical out

That is strange. I'm not familiar with 3.5 mm optical outs, but they do specify it.

This looks kind of cool, but why?

Why not use rip it to a lossless format and play it that way?

Cool device, hate that it has a built in battery. All that says to me is planned obsolescence.

Since it is impossible to find a Sony discman D-88. This is a great alternative. In for one.

I think these are sometimes called mini toslink. I have a couple of toslink to mini toslink cables in my horde

This is not the hipster audiophile way.

I'd get one for the office if it supported LDAC. Too bad they don't publish supported codec. Not going to have wired headphones on in the office

AFAIK, yes, CD's are now back. I, for one, couldn't be happier. CD's have always been my favorite physical media format for audio. Too bad my Yamaha CD burner with the audio master quality feature doesn't seem to work any more. Frown
