Let me get this straight: you pay for a device that will use your battery power to show you advertisements from companies that pay Amazon to show them to you? It's basically buying a device for the company that sells you the device to make money off you. Cool.

Is this the yet to be anounced 14th gen? I think the hd10 13th gen has 3gb ram with 32/64 storage. The 11inch max had 4gb and wireless charging as I recall.

The fire tool box will strip bloatware, but it is not quite the same as a straight android device. You can side load the aroura store and fdroid with out a gmail account, but if you want the play store you will need to give google your account # info. That would be like having 2 sub systems running making it slower than needed.

I would take a factory fresh reseted tab and go right to setting up developer mode. Hook up the toolbox, and debloat. Then install aurora store. From there you can install downloader, firefox and set it up with out the stuff you dont want and stuff you want with out all the background stuff running..

Specks like this makes the firesticks look expensive for what it is.. Fire sticks dont come with this much power.

I have found gen 11 and 13 tabs for $15 to $30 at market place and thrift stores. BB even had some geek squad refurbs cheap lately. Try the web site and see what is availible.

You see ads on the lock screen for the duration of the time it takes you to remember what passcode to enter. So a second or so. Then you go to the app you care about and don't see no more ads. Fair deal

My point is google says gen 14 is said to be days away and the older versions (though more powerfull than a fire qube) have little resale value.

it takes an SD card, so it could at least be a fairly competent portable manga reader for the money.

can they be rooted to add play store?

Imo would just get a free phone from Metro PCs, and get the Samsung tablet for like$20. In total I think is about the same price. (55 phone plan for free phone) ( 20/ 25 for tablet plan)

I haven't messed with this kind of product in a while but last I remember savvy folks immediately rooted them to remove the Amazon trash
