It heats up like 15 seconds or something and the metal head also gets hot and I took it to Florida for a few days last week and I had no complaints about it
It has a button on it that feeds the pump so if you don't want steam coming out, you just push the button on the back of the head like if you're setting it down so it doesn't steam but the head still stays hot. So you can kind of use it like a little mini iron and a steamer.
