For about $20 more you can get a Tapo 2K+ one (owned by TP-Link), which doesn't need a subscription to anything in order to get notifications, has a microSD slot for storage, and works with Alexa and Google. That is the regular price btw, it's gone as low as $95 within the past 30 days.

I believe these are the newest gen. Square lights you're thinking of might be the pro which is 4k and much more expensive.

Ring home cameras are garbage. You need to pay $50/yr subscription to record ANYTHING, this defeats the point of the camera for security or information, it is a glorified peephole without recording.
If you have more than one device it is $100 a year.
Regardless of already being in the ring ecosystem, it will cost you more in a single year to own one of their devices than to replace it.
Seriously, ring cameras are worthless without the subscription and thus they are never a slick deal.


I highly recommend Tapo, which has local SD card recording, options to record locally with their own tapohub, or locally/remotely using free open source server applications, and one subscription price for cloud backups and if desired ($35/yr for up to 2 devices, $100/yr for unlimited devices). No core feature is locked behind subscription.

Reolink also is a great choice, don't know all their details though
