This is oddly reasonable. 36GB isn't super amazing but it's enough to run the decent MoE models that are targeted for 24GB VRAM (like gemma4:26b-a4b, qwen3.6:36b-a3b).. if local LLM is what you're looking to do with this.

It's $300 more than the Mac Mini M5 Pro. You get vastly better graphics performance, 12 GB extra RAM, better Ethernet. For $300 extra, it's a good deal for a lot of people. If it was the original price of $2.5k, I see your point more.

I checked today our local Micro Center had 15 in stock. I am currently out of town and not able to go to the store until Sunday. Micro center is in store only for these. I called Best Buy on the phone and they price matched it for me and a few hours later I have tracking info. Deal is still going on for this. It's more machine than I need but when it's only 300.00 more than the one I need it's a no brainer.

I think many of us have put that extra $300. But I underestimated its size. Mac mini really baby in-front of this

I so wish I bought 64GB ram or more when I bought the M4 Max version of this. I wasn't really aware at the time of all the cool stuff you can do with more than 36GB ram. The 36GB versions is still very useful, though, and I don't see any option for a reasonably priced 64GB or greater version appearing.

Yes, the price went up to $2299 after store closing last night. (Still a discount of $200 off the standard price.) I got my local pickup order in yesterday afternoon at $1999, but can't pick up until today. What are the chances they'll try to charge me the new $2299 price?

I found an open box one at my local Micro Center for $1799. It is unbelievable that a week old release is available for this much discount. Thank you to the kind soul who purchased and returned it for me to get additional $200 discount.

If you reserved it, the price will be whatever is shown on your pick up email. No bait and switch with Micro Center. They are a legitimate company.
