This Mac Studio stands out as a compact but powerful desktop for local AI, video work, and heavy productivity, with the M5 Max, 36GB unified memory, and lots of ports drawing the most praise. The 10Gb Ethernet, strong graphics, and lower throttling make it feel like a bigger step up than a Mac mini, and the price matchable $1,999 to $2,000 range looks unusually low for a fresh release. The main knocks are the fixed 36GB memory ceiling and 512GB SSD, which feel tight for larger LLMs and storage-heavy workflows. Availability and price matching have also been inconsistent, so timing and store stock matter.

You need to walk into a BB, with a local Microcenter near by, with them still having stock (MC) and ask the BB manager to come out. He has to approve you on the spot and your In-store BB invoice at check out should be ~$2000+tax not $2500+tax.
Another victim of RAM shortage. If you can wait would def pass on this
In fact its not. Not even close. People are speculating 2028-2029 to see any alleviation. we're never going back to 2024-2025 levels, not for another 5 years at least (assuming AI completely implodes which is not likely to happen).
Due to supply constraints and the fact that SK Hynix, Micron, and Samsung are price colluding AND they already have been swapping their fabs over to manufacture HBM and quite literally, get rid of their DDR lines, we're not going to see any price alleviation at least until 2028.
The plain fact of that matter is, we likely wont see any storage or RAM price decrease until the AI bubble fully pops, billions are lost and these greedy RAM manufacturers decide to reduce HBM capacity and revert some of their fabs back to DDR.
The only other option i see, is HBM going mainstream into consumer hardware to drive down the cost. As the years go by, its only going to get easier and cheaper to manufacture more HBM, and the excess should.. but very slowly bleed into consumer electronics. We'll likely need to continue to keep payment premiums for a while. Or we pray CXMT from China can save us all.
They all sold out by next day. insane.
You must go to local BB, and have a local MC (with the Mac Studio still in stock), and then request manager to come out to price match on the spot. You must make sure your invoice actually is $2000+tax and not $2500+tax with a retroactive price match/refund. Best Buy internal systems will reject the PM/refund. You need BB employee/manager to override and give it to you in-person.
