This iTAOSTAR inflatable SUP comes across as a budget board best suited to casual paddling, with the 33 inch width and tri fin setup drawing praise for stability and tracking. The heat welded construction and easy setup also stand out, and the board has been used for everything from first time lake outings to frequent marina sessions. The center fin is the main debate, with some calling it unnecessary drag and others saying it helps beginners stay steady. A few comments also raise durability and leak concerns, so it feels like a low cost option that depends on expectations.

Common Questions (4)

  • At about $80, it is described as a decent inflatable SUP even though the MSRP is considered inflated. The board is also reported to hold up well in regular use, with one owner using it 3-4 times a week and another reporting no issues after 3 months.

  • The center fin is described as unnecessary by some because it can add drag, and the fin box can still collect sand or debris even when the fin is removed. It is also reported to improve stability for first-time riders and help the board track better, so it can be useful if you value steadier handling over a cleaner setup.

  • The 33-inch width is reported to give noticeably better stability than a 10' x 32" board, and first-time riders completed a 6-mile lake paddle with two people on board. It is also described as easy to set up and stable enough for early SUP use.

  • Yes, the promo code is reported to still work at checkout.

I'm thinking this will be a good beginners board. I'm getting for my 15 year old girls.

A single fin is preferred. I have 3 boards from mid and high end mfg's.and the center fin add is a gimmick. Edit: the center fin box itself creates drag even if the fin is not in place. Note that you won't see them except on low end boards.
Based on your response, you wouldn't buy this board even if it didn't have the center fin/box, because it's a low end board to begin with. You are obviously a more experienced and discerning user, but maybe just say that from the get go because others wouldn't care about the absolute best speed properties of this and grab it for the great price.

For $80 ? You where expecting laser welded?
Several recent deals at similar prices (funwater) have stitched seams, so less sensitive to heat breakdown

nothing to do with speed. Lots of boards out there sub $100 without a worthless middle fin. Even without the fin in place, sand, gravel or debris can and will get in the fin slot. My point is that it's not needed. If you like it, buy it and enjoy.

I have a theory that SD is pumping up things arbitrarily so people will just click through and they will get their commissions, regardless of the quality of the goods or deals. Makes me sad. Very few actual slick deals these days...mostly shilled junk.

This is SlickDeals, not "Junk for Appropriately Low Prices". We expect good stuff at low prices, or lower quality stuff at _really low_ prices.

center fin is a gimmick and will creat drag. Pass
I got one of these because of the center fin, it's not a gimmick, it does help with the overall stability of the board, good for people going out for the first couple times. The fins are for tracking, not sure if you are racing but the drag on these is very minimal to the overall surface contact with the board. I blew mine up and let it sit and expand for 24 hours, no issues, no loss of air, trying it out this weekend.
