Bose QuietComfort SC headphones stand out for comfort, solid noise canceling, and a price that has been showing up in Costco warehouses at a steep discount. The fit is praised for long listening sessions, travel, and even sleeping on hotel stays, and the white and black pairs have been moving fast in several locations. The main caveats are that this is the first generation, with some reports of weaker sound tuning, ear cushions that wear out, and occasional fit or crackling issues. A practical pick if comfort matters more than chasing the newest model.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. The $149.97 price is reported as in-store only and availability varies by warehouse, with some locations showing low stock or selling out quickly while others still have white units. Black appears to be harder to find than white.

  • The ear cushions can disintegrate or pop after about a year of use, and replacement pads or gel covers are commonly used to fix it. Replacing the cushions can extend the life of the headphones.

  • Yes. Costco can refund the difference through an online price-match claim, and one reported adjustment was $20 back after buying at a higher price.

  • They are reported to be very comfortable, with one comparison favoring them over AirPods Max for fit. They can also be worn to sleep in a hotel, which makes them a strong choice if comfort matters more than premium sound differences.

  • The QuietComfort SC is the QC45 replacement and is the 1st-gen version, not the 2nd gen. The 2nd gen is described as a solid upgrade with better sound and improved ANC, especially for glasses wearers.

Meh. Anker has gotten me 90% of what this offers, at less than 50% the price.

what location? My warehouse only has black, at full price!
North Naperville I think. Just off 88. Call your store and ask them to look the SC model up. It's 150, not full price. They should be able to check all local stores for you on the phone.

Ear cushions disintegrate over time. I replaced with a gel cover and it's been great. I also read the cushions are loaded with microplastics, so consider replacing immediately. Very good otherwise

Coming from a 5 year old Bose QC 35 II, these are dog shi*.

The fit is worse, cuts in and out with multipoint, and everytime I pause/play/seek, it crackles.

It's not my piece because I recently returned a cert refurbished piece for the same reasons thinking it was defective.

Picked up one of the last couple of pairs at the Sharon MA location yesterday for a friend. Great price! If I hadn't already grabbed a set of the Sony XM5s a few months ago I would've considered these.

These are 1st gen. The 2nd gen are generally reviewed as a solid upgrade, mainly the overall sound profile, which Bose apparently botched in the 1st gen (vs the QC 45, which the SC replaced). Guessing that's why they've been heavily discounted lately

2nd gen are also much better if you wear glasses like me - they compensate ANC when there are gaps in the earpad seal (finally!)

technically they replaced QC45s. a lot of reviews I read were not liking the change in sound profile, and apparently it's now been fixed on the 2nd gen

I bought one yesterday. I am not sure if this just me but the sound bleeds like crazy. My kids who are like 4 ft away from me can hear what I am listening to even at 70% volume. I don't know if I got a bad one. I tried with iPhone and S24 plus but same result. I even pressed against my ears but sound bleeding doesn't stop.

I have these and the AirPod Max. I love the Bose and not the AirPod Max. The Bose are super comfortable. I sleep with them when staying at a hotel. The Max are uncomfortable. Sound quality is fine on both.
Thanks I've been always curious to ask if anyone owned these and the AirPod Max and how they compare. And if the Max's are worth that hefty price tag.
