One AcuRite limitation: this Optimus uses the newer AcuRite NOW platform. It does not support Weather Underground, My AcuRite, or AcuRite Access. That matters if you want to connect it to an existing weather setup.
My recommendation at these prices:
* Best value for straightforward weather monitoring: AcuRite Optimus. The HD screen, included solar pack, and lightning detection make it attractive at $180.
* Best for expanding into property monitoring: Ambient WS-2000. Worth considering if you want to add leak sensors or temperature sensors around the property.
* WS-2902: makes sense if you want Ambient's platform and UV readings while keeping the cost below $200.

I had Acurite for years and never had an issue. I might just toss the WS-2000 and grab this deal.
I have done a dedicated 2.4GHz connection for it, but it will not connect. I have another router that is not an Asus that I use with my older Acurite weather station.
So I did some searching, and I found this: https://ambientweather.
The top line says, "There have been significant reports of connection issues with Asus and Arris routers. Our Wi-Fi chip manufacturer resolved these issues with an updated SDK (many non-Ambient Weather devices share the same issue), which was implemented in WiFi Firmware Version 4.2.6."
So maybe this is the same for that La Crosse station for that person.
