Who knew a jacket would be so divisive. One subculture isn't going to wear it because another subculture also wears it? And somehow this affects quality? You people are whack. Unfortunately, it's an accurate reflection of the U.S. which is sad.

Oh, and this might blow your minds - there are hipster blue collar workers and tradesmen out in the wild.

Carhartt is a Michigan thing.. it's real workwear and gets me through winter tasks while letting me swing an axe. hipsters wear Carhartt because they "are working on themselves" and that's ok. They are quality.

Carhartt is a Michigan thing.. it's real workwear and gets me through winter tasks while letting me swing an axe. hipsters wear Carhartt because they "are working on themselves" and that's ok. They are quality.

caarhartt has been 'trending' with 'hipsters' since the early 2000's probably earlier. The word hipster was popularized in the late 00's

I'm on the California west coast and barely even need a sweater most of the time, even in the cold months. This might be the strongest outer wear I've ever bought, but because of the sale, and this year's expected El Nino season, I figured this is a good buy. People seem to praise the quality which is appealing since I probably won't buy another jacket for quite a few years at least. Hoping for the best 🤘

the idea is once your brand becomes popular enough based on it's quality, you can reduce said quality and still get a lot of people to buy it based on it being known as a reputable brand. this is called BRAND DILUTION. Certain things, mainly jackets and shirts are still decent, it's the accessories and fashion items (Carhartt WIP) that suck. The bulk of the work apparel is still significantly better than next-best in the price range. Though there have been brewing rumors of a VC takeover.
