This Daytona 3 ton low profile floor jack is praised as a fast, sturdy option for DIY tire rotations and SUV work, with enough reach for lowered cars and big vehicles. The rapid pump action and low profile design stand out, and the price looks especially strong versus higher priced long reach or Snap on alternatives. The main cautions are its weight, a 9 inch minimum height that rules out some low riders, and the short 90 day warranty. It reads like a solid garage jack when you want speed and reach more than portability.

  • The deal jack has only a 90-day warranty, while higher-end Daytona models are described with a 3-year warranty.

  • The jack's low-profile minimum height of 9 inches can prevent use on low riders.

  • The jack's cup fit may not match every vehicle jacking point well, which can risk damaging the lift point.

  • The jack's low-profile design may have limited clearance because the cup is only about 3 inches across.

On page 1, CodyH claimed exactly that: "an exact Snap-On jack" They are not.

Argue all you want about the value of the Daytonas compared to the value of the Snap-ons and I will agree with you all day long, just don't claim that they are the same thing.
You said that "stop fooling yourself by thinking they're Snap-on equivalents". The HF jack is very much "EQUIVALENT" to the Snap On in fit and function. I can drive down the road to get a new HF jack if it fails during warranty. Warranty on a Snap On tool is not that fast and simple. So what is the justification for paying a lot more $ for the Snap On jack? Bragging right?

I submitted a warranty claim on a Proto hand tool in early August. Still no replacement from Black and Decker. Company claims that they are swamped with warranty repairs. OK, thank you for your vote of confidence in your product.

I went in at noon and they told me that they were all bought by people waiting for the store to open. Everything is like this now. It sucks.

The long-term reliability is the justification for the Snap-on jack. I was a mechanic. I've known dozens of mechanics. With heavy use, the Snap-on jacks can keep working for decades, whereas the Daytonas sometimes need to be replaced. They are not equivalent.

Great deal. I paid $120 pre-Covid during a sale. Jack works great, I have a big SUV and it lifts it with no issue. Pair it with the Daytona jack stands (I personally use the 6 ton ones) and work under your car with confidence.
That's the proper way to use a jack. Back off on the jack once the jack stands are in place. Your life is top priority. And the jack should last several decades because it only has to work for 5 minutes.

But even if two products look alike or come from the same factory assembly line, they can be quite different due to the individual parts used, finishing, polishing or heat-treating steps that could be skipped, quality control checks, etc. As Project Farm showed, without even taking them apart, the high-end Daytona (not the one in this deal) is not "an exact Snap-On jack".

Is it good enough for a shade-tree mechanic? Probably. Is it good enough for a professional mechanic? Maybe not.
Of course the same assembly line can make a different product.

It's just cringey to get called out in court, that your $1000 "Made In USA" product is actually made in China on the same line as the $99 HF.

Again, O-rings will fail with use and time. All rubber seals have finite life. There is NO WAY the Snap On will work for decades in an industrial environment without leaks! Eight lifts per day x 260 days x 20 years = 41600 cycles without failure for the Snap On jack? I call that pie in the sky...

Heck, let's assume that the HF jack fails in 5 yr. You're paying 3-5x the price today for the Snap On. Run a cost analysis to arrive at a break in point! Stupid mechanics dump $ into Snap On tools.

Warranty is super simple with HF jack. Swap n go at any HF store. No so easy with Snap On. File a claim. Wait for the truck. Return the jack for evaluation and hope that they don't sit one the claim for weeks. Time is $ if you run a small repair shop.

The Daytona jack that was about costs close to $300.

Snap-on uses easily replaceable U-cup seals, not o-rings. My shop neighbor is on his 3rd $300 Daytona in about 8 years. When this one fails, he'll have spent more at Harbor Freight than if he'd just bought a Snap-on in the first place.

So now you are saying that the Snap On will need new seals, which is no different than the HF! Your friend must be a lousy mechanic if he can't replace oil seal.

But wait, the $300 HF jack comes with 3 yr warranty. Why pay for a new one, when you can bring it in every 3 yr for free replacement. Just buy using your phone number if you don't want to keep a receipt for warranty purpose. You cannot fix stupidity.

I still have doubt that the Snap On jack is leak free after 8 years. 8 lift per day x 260 x 8 years = 16640 cycles.

I have it, it is excellent for DYI. I also have the biggest, most expensive version of it, and it is much heavier and than this smaller one that is excellent for (sports) cars. Excellent price point. Go with a light color if you can find it, remember that under the vehicle, visibility is your friend.

I've been using a 2-1/4 ton Craftsman trolley jack for a lot of years with no issues. Now that I'm getting older, I decided it was time to upgrade to a floor jack to make things easier, so I ordered a Vevor 3-ton low profile that was on sale at Lowes for the same price as this Daytona. It seemed like a decent jack but it's way too heavy so I returned it. I probably don't need a 3-ton anyway but I'm not sure if the 1.5-ton aluminum would be enough. Does the Pittsburgh 2-ton ever go on sale?
