This KitchenAid attachment is best understood as a powered slicing and shredding add on, not a full food processor. It can handle parmesan and mozzarella better when the cheese is chilled, and the shredder blade gets the strongest praise. The main drawbacks are clumpy or uneven results on cheese and vegetables, plus reports of stuck food, difficult cleanup, and a housing that cannot be washed. It also runs too slowly to replace a real food processor, making it a niche helper rather than an all purpose prep tool.

I'd give it a shot at this price but setting my expectations super low based on reviews. I was hoping to make shredding cheese easier but I'm nervous over reviews saying it's not so great for that, with the cheese coming out clumpy and uneven. There's also many saying their veggies get pulverized more so than cut. Can anyone speak from experience?

I have and it's not worth it. Very difficult to remove struck veggies and clean. Collecting dust for years.

They have a different attachment that you can use for cheeses. I have one and the only downside I saw was that when you "push" the cheese with the plastic pusher it sometimes gets smushed and some squeezes to the sides. I mainly use it for the boatload of parmesan, which is soft at room temp so maybe colder harder cheese would be easier. They sell them on amazon, and about 100 knockoffs.

Soft cheeses would probably shred better if slightly frozen

Didn't have it but saw it once and passed based on reviews. It doesn't operate at a high enough speed to be a fully functional food processor.

As others have said this isn't really a food processor, its more of a powered mandolin. If you are interested in shredding things, get one of those countertop crank rotary shredders (or the KA attachment one if you shred a lot).

Just get the shredder attachment. Its half the price of this and does a great job if use the right blade. I use it for mozzerella all the time. Toss the cheese in the freezer for maybe 15 minutes before you shred, and no issues.

Thanks for the Post and especially for the comments which gave me a lot to think about before dropping money on something that could just end up collecting dust.

Has been on woot for the last ~2 weeks? I looked at the reviews for it vs the metal one, and that seems to be the one to grab.
