After having my Samsung develop a dark spot after 6 years as a secondary TV, and seeing so many Samsung TVs on Facebook with the same issue or a line on the screen, I'm hesitant to sink money into any TV made in the past 10 years.
These $300-400 Chinese TVs don't last. The $600-800 ones probably don't either.
Does any company still make their own panels without having to pay the OLED TV prices? Or are they all made in China now?
The TV that developed a dark spot was a Samsung TV with a Chinese panel. All my samsung TVs with Samsung panels never had issues with the panel. The power boards died after 12-14 years, and I was able to replace/fix those. The Chinese panel Samsung is sitting on the floor and I hate to throw it away, but I can't fix the LED strips on a panel. Way too much work and precision.
Samsung's own website seems to be contradictory on this point (same on Bestbuy as well). Under specs, it's identified as a 60hz panel. However, if you scroll down, this is listed as a feature:
Motion Xcelerator + DLG 120Hz
Perfect for gaming and sports, Motion Xcelerator + DLG 120Hz delivers fast, responsive performance.⁵ Whether you're navigating intense gameplay or keeping up with thrilling sports moments, enjoy clear visuals and smooth performance that keep you fully immersed in the action.
*Available only on 55" class and larger screen sizes. DLG 120Hz increases refresh rate up to 120Hz, but will reduce image sharpness. Optimal for fast-paced gaming; visual quality varies by title.

Apparently remote sucks and smarter one exists as option to buy
And people claim it's does not remember last input/settings
I'll just wait for Prime Day since so close, but good to see 120hz at this price point

Good deal but kind of makes you wonder why a brand new 2026 TV already has a pretty large discount (the original MSRP was $450).
